SANREMO 2011 FIRST NIGHT REPORT
The first night of the 2011 Sanremo festival is concluded and anticipating the Saturday announcement of the 2011 Eurovision representative, here is a brief report from the first night of the most famous Italian festival. Gianni Morandi along with Luca and Paolo hosted the show and the first singer was Giusy Ferreri with a mid tempo rock song. Great voice and peculiar tune structure.
Luca Barbarossa and Raquel del Rosario. Very stylish appearance by Raquel and a performance which definitely suits the profile of this festival. Impressive. Roberto Vecchioni is the next performer and the audience give him a huge applause. Famous Anna Tatangelo sings Bastardo but the dress and the make up seem too much. La Crus sing Io confesso, a smooth and atmospheric song although it’s outdates. Max Pezzali is singing an uptempo rock song and surely this singer appeals to the teenagers. The tune is nice, I would have objections in the vocal performance. Davide Van De Sfoors with Yanez is next singing an uptempo song which definitely makes you wanna hear it again.
Anna Oxa which the Eurofans remember her anyway from the 1989 Eurovision Song Contest is the next act, terribly dressed and shouts instead of singing. This is not going to the next round. Tricarico and the song 3 Colori are next but they are too stressed in their performance. Modá with Emma are next performing a nice song but that’s it. Nothing Eurovision special. Luca Madonia with Franco Battiato singing L’Alieno. This is a totally Italian song which might not be appealing to Europe though. Patty Pravo is the next act tonight with a outstanding black dress and the song is something that would be worth of attention in a line up for Eurovision.
Nathalie with Vivo Sospesa is the next act for the night. The song is very dramatic and well structured. Very good choice for Eurovision. Last act is Albano with the song Amanda é libera. The Eurovision veteran who’s last Eurovision appearance was as backing vocalist in the 2000 Swiss entry sings a typical Italian song which is nothing but still nothing special to remember.
