DINO’S FIRST CONCERT IN BELGRADE
The 2011 and 1999 representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dino Merlin, will hold his first concert in Belgrade after more than 20 years. It will be the first time he will perform in the Serbian capital since the breakup of Yugoslavia. The concert will be held at the end of the year, either in November or December. Dino Merlin is extremely popular in Serbia despite some unpopular remarks about the country he made during the 1990s. Serbia gave 12 points to Bosnia and Herzegovina at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Many past Eurovision representatives from Croatia and Bosnia are extremely popular in Serbia including Croatia’s Severina (2006) and Bosnia’s Laka (2008).
A few weeks ago when Serbia’s president Boris Tadić visited his birth place of Sarajevo on an official visit, he met with Merlin and discussed his upcoming Belgrade concert amongst other things. The concert is expected to be held at the 2008 Eurovision venue, the Belgrade Arena.
Dino Merlin recently said, “I’m excited about my Belgrade concert where I will perform after so many years. We should leave the past behind because music and the people defeat all evil”.
