TOM DICE (2010) TURNS DOWN ESC 2012
Belgian biggest newspaper ‘Het Laatste Nieuws’ reported today that Flemish broadcaster VRT is approaching its final decision for Baku. Originally VRT offered Tom Dice to go again to Eurovision but the singer, who reached 6th place in the 2010 Eurovision, turned down the offer. Tom is currently enjoying lots of success in the French speaking countries with his hitsingle ‘Il nous faut’ with the French singer Elisa Tovati and around ESC 2012 he would release his second album.
The shortlist has been reasonably cut down and it seems that following names have biggest chances: Stan Van Samang: this singer used to be first a popular actor but after winning a singing competition on National broadcaster he started to have a lot of success in the charts. It is known widely that he is likely the topfavourite of Flemish Television to represent Belgium in next years Eurovision. A big advantage is that the singer has charisma and could do very well. Kato: this young singer ended earlier this year second in the latest series of Pop Idol. However she had already major success in the charts with the Joker and her current single is doing very well too. This summer she won the Summerhit award from Radio 2, the largest radiostation in the Flemish part of Belgium. The advantage of Kato is that she has this sweet face which could warm people’s heart. On the other hand she still lacks the charisma like Stan Van Samang. Her hi tsingle The Joker can be watched here:
Maybe a bit less known singer but definitely not to be ruled out is Yannick Bovy. The singer has been getting a lot of attention in recent years and is called the Flemish answer to Michael Bubblé. Yannicks advantage is that he definitely has a very warm and charming voice and a good charisma. However not having yet a major hitsingle might be a disadvantage. Some other less known names is also on the list but have not been revealed. A final decision will surely be made before 1st December. As from these latest details it seems that Kate Ryan would be out of the picture, but we’ll have to wait a bit more as you never know with VRT.
