ANDORRA QUITS EBU FOR GOOD
RTVA, the Andorran public broadcaster has decided to leave EBU, wich means that Andorra will not return to Eurovision soon. The measure was taken due to the economic weaknes of the company.
By the end of 2010, RTVA’s debts where at a total of 3.618 million euro, much higher than the maximum sum the law permits. More than that, the public subsidy that RTVA receives from the government will drop from 3.4 million euro in 2011 from 2.8 million euro in 2012.
The Andorran broadcaster is also expected to make severe cuts in order to restructure its finances, wich means that from the 100 emplyers RTVA currently has, only 82 will be able to keep their jobs.
