EUROSTARS IN ATHENS
WE MET ANNE MARIE DAVID
Another one guest and winner of Eurovision song contest that will perform live in MPLE 2011 by OGAE Greece, is Anne-Marie David. She won the Eurovision song contest for Luxembourg in 1973 and she came back in the contest with France this time, six years later.
After her participation she admits that her life has changed a lot “It was like a storm. At that time, winning Eurovision meant that you were having three years traveling all the time”. But the contest has changed too. Back in 1970′s there were only singers who participated, she says, but now we see singers, groups and show. “I would love to have three shows. One for groups, one for soloist singers and for show. Because it’s difficult to compare”.
We could see Anne-Marie in Eurovision again? “For me it wouldn’t be a problem to sing again. If you win Eurovision once that year belongs to you. If I don’t win again that does not take me down. I will be forever 1973′s winner” she says. And what about 1979′s entry? “I did it because the first time I won for Luxembourg and I’m French” she states. But if she take part today, with this kind of songs, she is not sure if she will have the chance to win again. People watch the show and don’t listen to the songs. She likes shows but she likes songs too. “Lys Assia? She can not enter a show. She is a singer. It’s a bet for her. A challenge” Anne-Marie says.
Luxembourg is the country with which she won the contest. But now this country does not participate in Eurovision song contest. She believes that this has to change. “Lot of people would love to have Luxembourg again in the game” but this is very difficult. “The only broadcaster in the country is private and the owner doesn’t like the show and he does not want to enter”. This is very bad because Luxembourg in the past was a country with many winning entries. She offered to promote the country again in Eurovision, but she admits that “except you don’t have a strong song and interpreter, you will never win anymore. The new generation loves show, not interpreters”. For her the votes are not “fair” today, because of the tele-voting. “You buy the votes. We can’t see the jury. We don’t see who votes and why” she says. Anne-Marie mentioned the “block-voting” with countries like Yugoslavia that separated and now they vote each other “I don’t know if it’s fair, but they do it”.
Anne-Marie David is preparing many things for the future. A new single, the new version of “Tu te reconnaîtras” in a dance way and the German version of the song, that we can download it through her official web site. There is also something new. A single that will include the 2010′s spanish entry “Algo Pequeñito” in French (she wrote the lyrics) and in Spanish and after that, a French version of “Milim” (Israel 2010). “I have also a tour in France, I will sing for one month in Paris and well, I’m always working on new products like that” she says very happy for working in all these things.
The OGAE Greece event is taking place on November 19 at 16:00 local time at the Arhitektoniki Music Hall.
