LIVE FROM AALBORG
DENMARK DECIDES 2012
Welcome to the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2012, the show through which Denmark will decide its representative for the Baku 2012 Eurovision Song Contest edition. The show is hosted by Emil Thurop and Louise Wolffm begins at 20:00 CET and will feature 9 acts plus guests: Alexander Rybak (Norway 2009) and A Friend In London (Denmark 2011) alongside with Howie D (Backstreet Boys). You can watch the show online here.
The show begins on time and the two hosts welcome everyone on stage explaining the format of the show also speaking in some English. Participants are also presented and through the stage corridor they go to the Green Room. The show is absolutely spectacular as expected.
Jesper Nohrstedt – Take out hearts
(Morten Hampenberg, Engelina, Mads B. B. Krog)
Jesper is the first to take the stage and according to some he is one of the favorites to win tonight. He starts by playing the piano while the stage turns from red to blue also having a green laser to accompany his performance. Excellent vocal performance and a nice song too.
Aya – Best thing I got
(John Gordon, Julie Frost)
This is the song composed by the German 2010 entry author who also recently won a Golden Globe. Aya could also be considered a favorite tonight. Colorful dress and a very good vocal performance. Not bad at all as it impresses the audience.
Kenneth Potempa – Reach the sky
(Peter Bjørnskov, Lene Dissing, Sune Haansbæk)
With the support of a raining backdrop, a drummer and a guitar player, the third act is also impressive and well worked entry. Kenneth is making himself definitely a favorite for tonight’s super final. Vocals could have been better but the overall outcome is strong and good enough for him.
Ditte Marie – Overflow
(Mike Eriksson, Johnny Sanchez, Hanif Sabzevari)
Two drummers support Ditte Marie in the 4th act in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. She is wearing a white dress and gives a very impressive performance receiving also a huge applause.
Phillip Halloun & Emilia – Baby love me
(Philip Halloun, Emilia)
The fifth act is a ballad talking about love but the tune is not something that you hear for the first time as it seems to be quite classical. Red and blue colors full the stage. The vocal performance is quite nice and strong and give a positive mark to this entry.
Suriya – Forever I be young
(Suriyatim Hoffmann, Thomas Hoffmann, Jakob Winge)
With a black dress the 6th hopeful for Baku 2012 Eurovision Song Contest edition is on stage. The pop song is presented with Suriya and 4 female dancers on stage. Very good presentation and vocal performance. It can actually do it to the super final.
Karen Viuff – Universe
(Lise Cabble, Boe Larsen, Simon Borch)
The 7th song for tonight is performed with Karen dressed in black. There is a piano player and a guitar player accompanying her on stage. Strong and confident vocal performance in total style with the classics.
Soluna Samay – Should have known better
(Remee, Chief 1, Isam B)
Totally American style song and performance but according to betting odds she is the favorite. Soluna is accompanied on stage by a band and gives a very confident performance (something like Kelly Clarkson). Very good performance.
Christian Brøns and Patrik Isaksson – Venter
(Christian Brøns, Patrik Isaksson, Rune Braager)
This is the 9th and last act for this year. The only song in Danish with a male duo which definitely remind us the 2000 Danish winner entry by Olsen Brothers. Can this song make it again and win the ticket to Baku? We will find out as in few moments the super final acts will be announced.
THE THREE SUPERFINALISTS
Jesper Nohrstedt – Take out hearts
Christian Brøns and Patrik Isaksson – Venter
Soluna Samay – Should have known better
The three super finalists selected by the international jury and the Danish viewers will now proceed to the super final. They perform again and now the Danish viewers will decide the winner. First we have the interval act by the various guests tonight, so the thriller will continue.
