TOZÉ SANTOS (NF 2012) SPEAKS TO OIKOTIMES.COM

During an interview by oikotimes.com’s Nelson Costa, the singer and composer Tozé Santos revealed his thoughts about Festival da Canção 2012, the national selection to the Eurovision Song Contest.

How did you react with the invitation to compose a song to “Festival da Canção 2012”?
RTP made a first invitation to my label. After studying the new rules concerning this contest, my answer was immediate: Yes! (LOL) I think that, with a previous casting to singers, we’ll have better chances to have good singers and performers… I must confess that the previous selection method was not my ‘cup of tea’. But I’m very happy to join this contest! Making part of “Festival da Canção” history is an honor!

Has it change your everyday life?
I am currently very busy with the composition of this song! So it gives me much more work of course (LOL). I have many positive reactions from the public. I receive a lot of messages of encouragement. I think the big change will surely take place in the forthcoming days, as my team and I are working on the artistic part of the song.

Do you want to talk about your song?
Presently I’m working on the song, to be performed by Gerson Santos. This is a mid-tempo ballad. I’m doing it with my heart and soul, as if it were played by me! In fact, the lyrics itself is also my own.
The first demo is going to be received by the producer Fernando Martins in the next few days, this one performed by myself. Then, we are going to record the first sounds with the singer Gerson Santos. I like his voice!

Besides this challenge, we know that you are currently involved in other projects. Do you want to talk about it?
Sure! I’m recording a new album with my band Per7ume and as soon as possible we’ll publish fresh news.
On the other hand, I can say that next week I’ll record my first tv-show titled “MP”. A music program to be broadcasted by RTP Informação and RTP Internacional. The premiere is set to February 4.

Thank you Tozé Santos for this interview. We’ll meet again, for sure, before March 10! Listen to Tozé’s music “Mudo”, by Per7ume:
