JOHNNY DELUXE (DMGP 2009)
SPLIT UP
Johnny Deluxe, the group who placed 3rd in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2009 with the song “Sindssyg (Crazy)”, splits up after a 10 years success. The members of the band say that the break up comes due to the lack of commitment and the fact that, lately, most of the band members have achieved succes as songwriters.
Besides their participation in 2009, some of the group members took part in Eurovision as sonfwriters. Jacob Glæsner was co-writer of the song ”New Tomorrow”, that represented Denmark in Eurovision 2011 and he also worked on the song ”Call the police” from this year Cyprus NF. Noam Halby co-wrote Jens Marni’s song ”Gloria” from DMGP 2010, while Søren Itenov was one of the songwriters behind the song Nowhere, which got disqualified from this year’s Danish final.
The band have released a total of 11 singles and 5 albums, the last one in 2010, entitled ”De Største Af De Første”. The break-up was announced today, on their official Facebook page: ”Here ten years later we can, with joy, look back on the fantastic journey we started back then and the cool experiences it gave us. We have now decided to break up Johnny Deluxe as we no longer have the engagement and the commitment to continue, but to reach a 10 years anniversary isn’t that bad either!”.
