ESTONIA DECIDES 2012: EESTI LAUL SEMIFINAL 1

The show is broadcast from a studio and it looks that the sound and camerawork is pretty ok. The two semifinals of Eesti Laul have been prerecorded at ERR’s studio in the capital of Estonia, Tallinn. However the final will be live of course from the Nokia concert Hall and will be transmitted on March 3rd. From every semifinal 5 acts will qualify for the big final.

results: going to the final on March 3rd:
August Hunt - Tantsulõvi
Loss Paranoias – Valedetektor
Ott Lepland- Kuula
Liis Lemsalu – Made Up My Mind
POP Maniacs - I don’t know

01. Janne Saar – Fight for love
The first song could have easily been sung in the 90′s and lacks originality. Also they seem at times out of tune. Not the best beginning.

02. Erasmus Rotterdamist – Kuu pääle
This rockalike song is very down of the normal level and wouldnt be worth at all to qualify for the finals. This guy think he’s Bon Jovi or what? What a laugh!

03. MIA – Bon voyage
Song three is getting back on track with a eurovision dance song which is quiet good and powerful. This should go to the finals.

04. Milky Whip – My love
This song is very strange to me, quiet alternative and i really cannot make anything up on it basically. But you never know. I dont like it at all.

05. POP Maniacs - I don’t know
This song is very poor, vocals are out of tune at time. Its very pop but with this Estonia wont make it surely!

06. Ott Lepland- Kuula
Wow wow wow! after all the crap before this ballad is a real relief! Ott Lepland sings his ballad behind a  piano and i just love the song. Its quiet predictable but when hearing all the song before this simply has to qualify!

07. August Hunt - Tantsulõvi
After the great ballad it’s off to scratch. This uptempo poprockish song is annoying to listen to and can’t wait till it’s finished.

08. Soundclear – A Little Soldier
The beginning of this uptempo song is quiet interesting and appealing but then the singer starts opening his mouth and it’s quiet annoying. Especially the high notes are very bad. Even he looks cute on stage, but you won’t make it by just have some good looks.

09. Liis Lemsalu – Made Up My Mind
The next in line has a so so song. The music is quiet interesting but the poor girl lacks experience to take the stage. Sometimes i wonder how songs get so far. This i really cannot see in the final and surely not in Baku!

10. Loss Paranoias – Valedetektor
A posivite thing is that several songs are being sung in Estonian. Also the last song of tonights final was sung in the native language, but even it’s a good try, i fear that the uptempo song is too much common to stand a chance in Baku. However i might see it in the final of Eesti Laul.
