The European Broadcasting Union's Executive Scruteniser Mr. Svante Stockselius has today told oikotimes.com of the reasons why there is to be no DVD of the 2007 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which was held in Rotterdam in December of last year. ''it was decided not to release a DVD of the JESC07. It was not commercially realististic to produce a DVD this time.'
The level of interest in the Junior Eurovision has declined over the recent year, sharply in the previous two, since its introduction in late 2003. The United Kingdom, France, Spain, Norway, Denmark, and Sweden have all withdrawn (although a commercial broadcaster took over the responsibility for the contest in the latter country), whilst the other member of the 'Big 4', Germany, has never entered.
It could therefore be that thereason it wasn't commercially realistic to produce such a DVD was down to the lack of interest, and quite likely a small income projection.
