D-Vine are a Spanish RnB and Hip-Hop band comprised of four members (Sergio, Celia, Ale and Maria. They are taking part in this year's TVE preselection contest with their song "I Do You". They talk exclusively to Oikotimes.com about their hopes and future dreams.
You are presenting yourselves for Preselection to this year's Eurovision with the song "I Do You", what is the basis of the song? The theme is principally about seduction, they are sentences like "look at my eyes" or "touch to my heart" that give them a base along with the chorus which is the climax of the song...it is not principally a sexual song like many people have said, it is based more in seduction and the attraction for someone.
Is Eurovision something you have always wanted to do? Honestly yes and no...They mentioned it to us and proposed it many times but realistically it was something we felt was a long way off, however here we are fighting to represent Spain at the contest and we believe that it could be a big change for Spain towards Eurovision.
How do you feel about the format chosen by TVE for Preselection? We feel that it is the best way that it could have been done this year...it is much more accessible for people who previously would have had to use programmes like OT, etc...the truth is that we believe it is the best option.
Which is your first memory of Eurovision? The same as everyone else I believe, "la, la, la" he he.
You have chosen a song in English, do you feel that it is an advantage? Maybe yes. They have also asked us to create a Spanglish version and we are working on it, let's see what happens at the end. We do have to be realistic however...a song in just Spanish winning Eurovision is very difficult. It is an International festival at a European level and the people of Europe speak other languages. The most used is English and if they want to listen to a song in English then why shouldn't they. We must give the public what they want to see.
Have you ever though of performing abroad? Maybe at another National Final? The truth is we haven't, we are very concentrated on recording our next album and suddenly this opportunity arrived and we are very happy with it. Anyway we are from Spain and in English or in any other language we want to fight for our country.
What do you have prepared for your Stage performance if you make it to the final? We have something very visual lined up and very impressive but we prefer not to say anything. In April we will record the video-clip and you will see the improvements of what a live show can be. What we do say is that we are not going to be something that is quickly forgotten, you need to leave your mark and if they decide to choose us we promise to leave Europe with it's mouth open.
The last group to win Eurovision was Lordi, do you see any similarities? He he, the truth is that they are very different styles. Perhaps the most obvious similarity is the fact of making our presence known, it is something that we will try to do, we work hard at our job so that it's liked, noticed and above all something good.
Any message for the Eurofans? We simply ask them to support us as much as they want or that they believe we deserve. A message for all...it is time that Spain started leaving it's mark and we are realists! From here we also thank everybody who is showing us love and support...we will return this by providing you with more and better work..Thank you to all, Peace!!
