After the Scandinavian pull-out from the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, where DR of Denmark, Norway's NRK, and SVT of Sweden decided to withdraw from the contest for various reasons, only Sweden has been participating after the commercial channel TV4 took over.
Oikotimes.com has asked the Norwegian commercial channel, TV2, which is also a member of EBU, if there have been any discussions for taking over the show after NRK withdrew in 2006. TV2's Information Superior, Marianne Røiseland, has told oikotimes.com that ''This is not a concept that TV2 will take over from NRK, instead we have chosen to bid on 'Idol' as our music program''.
This means that a comeback for Norway seems impossible for the foreseeable future, and so far it looks like Sweden will be the only 'Nordic' country represented in the Junior Eurovision final.
