Recent local publishments in a newspaper in Cyprus, seem to have caused some unrest to the Cypriot delegation. The reason is the potential plagiarism of the song "Firefly". According to the newspaper, the Cypriot entry is similar to four notes of the song "Warning", performed by Incubus. CyBC immediately responded to those claims, stating that at this moment no further actions will be taken and that the songs are not the same, just similar in a few notes, which is quite ordinary.

The head of the Cypriot delegation, Mrs Evi Papamichael commented on the matter and assured that CyBC's first reaction was that the songs are not the same and it is unknown yet if this statement needs to revised at a later stage. Nevertheless, no specialists will be appointed by the national broadcaster to check the accusations. The newspaper also states that Mrs Papamichael had communicated with the composer of the song, Nikolas Metaxas, who assured that he had never heard the other song. "Firefly" is sung by Christina Metaxa and will compete in the second semifinal.
