We will continue our daily presentations in the road to the Eurovision Song Contest to take place in Moscow, Russia. The three shows taking place in May will decide where we will head on next year.
Today we will be taking a look at Bulgaria whose entry "Illusion" penned by Krassimir Avramov, William Tabanau, Casie Tabanau and composed by Krassimir Avramov, William Tabanau will be sung by the Krassimir Avramov. The singer representing the country of Bulgaria will be hoping to put an end to his onslaughter by achieving a good placing in Moscow.
The Selection This years Bulgarian entry will be sung by Krassimir Avramov with the song "Illusion". This years national final was intertwined with the "Be a Star" series. Nine songs that were involved qualified for the National Final where they competed with nine other songs, which had been chosen by a jury. Of the nine songs that had qualified from "Be a Star" only one of them managed to qualify for the final. The Final was held on 21st February and Krassimir Avramov won by a landslide with over 55% of the tele/sms vote far more than the act in 2nd place who got just under 12%.
The Artist Krassimir Avramov is a Bugarian singer-songwriter who graduated from the National Academy for Theatrical and Film Arts (NATFIZ). He recorded his debut album in 1997, Silent Voices topped the charts in Bulgaria. Krassimir soon after moved to Los Angeles, California. He won an L.A. music award in 2005 for Superstar of the year, which has previously been won by Gwen Stefani and The Black Eyed Peas. That is one of the highest achievements won by any of this years competitios. Krassimir has a very rare and unique tenor-altino voice and he also performed a solo concert at the Kodak theatre.
The Song As for the song itself. I actually do like this entry and it does have some Balkan/ Mediterranean roots. It's lively and his voice is most certainly unique. I am not yet sure if this is a blessing or a curse as he does at times over sing the song, I am worried he may pass out gasping for breath onstage when he sings these long high notes. The verses are fine, the chorus is a little weak lyrically but on the whole it's a good song. I doubt that it will have people up dancing and they certainly won't be singing along to it. The juries will enjoy it for sure. It does have some very unique charms, not exactly original, but a damn good try at being original. I am not so sure what is supposed to be happening in the video, that's just a little too weird for my liking.
We wish Krassimir Avramov the best of luck in the semifinal hoping to make it to the final for a second time after Bulgaria had done so in 2007 when they had achieved their best placing yet.
Късмет !!
