BBC has just revealed the full voting for the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. One could clearly note several differences between the two types of voting.

The jury vote:
12 Points to Germany
10 Points to Iceland
8 Points to Norway
7 Points to Malta
6 Points to Turkey
5 Points to Ukraine
4 Points to France
3 Points to Bosnia & Herzegovina
2 Points to Armenia
1 Point to Azerbaijan

The Public televote:
12 Points to Turkey
10 Points to Greece
8 Points to Lithuania
7 Points to Norway
6 Points to Malta
5 Points to Iceland
4 Points to Azerbaijan
3 Points to Denmark
2 Points to Germany
1 Point to Portugal

The overall results (Jury + televote)
18 Points - Turkey
15 Points - Norway
15 Points - Iceland
14 Points - Germany
13 Points - Malta
10 Points - Greece
8 Points - Lithuania
5 Points - Azerbaijan
5 Points - Ukraine
4 Points - France
3 Points - Denmark
3 Points - Bosnia & Herzegovina
2 Points - Armenia
1 Point - Portugal

Where there were two countries on the same score (18 points and 5 points), the song with the higher public phone vote was the winner. So...

FINAL VOTES FROM THE UNITED KINGDOM
12 Points to Turkey
10 Points to Norway
8 Points to Iceland
7 Points to Germany
6 Points to Malta
5 Points to Greece
4 Points to Lithuania
3 Points to Azerbaijan
2 Points to Ukraine
1 Point to France

It seems that in years to come we are going on to have some really deserving winners if the system stays the same.

For many years the UGG Classic short from Uggs have been a firm favourite with women around the globe. However, this year we can see the new Ugg Bailey Button becoming just as popular. These boots are similar in design to the original Classic short, however with one exception. Each pair comes with a large wooden button etched with the Ugg logo on them and what first appeared on the Classic Cardy Bootspurchasing a pair of Ugg boots will wear them nearly every day and then wonder why they don’t look as good as when they first put them on. By taking proper care of your Ugg boots including the UGG Cardy boots you can ensure that they remain looking as good as the day you first put them.

Exactly, Broaz Mauda should have been the winner, great song and an amazing voice. Israel had the complete package last year. They also had a good entry in 2005 with Shiri Maimon, but that year Greece was unbeatable.

I agree with you on Dima Bilan. His 2006 entry was so much better."Believe" was an undeserving winner...In 2008 i would prefer to see my favourite entry winning which was Israel...Amazing entry...

Luso

I am realistic, the best voices don't always win. However, I prefer to watch and to listen to to a balanced act, which mixes good music, good vocals and an effective stage presentation. Oh, and I didn't want to imply that people voted for Kalomira because she was a nice person - I agree that the song was catchy (a bit repetitive, though) and that she was a shinning presence, but that was not enough (it should never be enough). Now that that's out of the way, let me tell you that would have prefered a Kalomira win to the song that won in 2008 (he was much better in 2005), but that's another story...

dima_gresc

Date: 05/6/2009 03:01 AM

Of course you wouldn't vote sne just for being a nice person...you singled out one phrase..i also said that her song was really catchy, very well presented and kalomira was shining on stage...Surely you don't think that the best voices win... singing in greek is nice but risky...this year top 10:7 songs in english,1 in french and only 2 in their own language...i wouldn't have any problem though...

Luso

Date: 05/6/2009 01:40 AM

...and singing in Greek; I enjoy the way it sounds, even if I don't understand it.

Luso

Date: 05/6/2009 01:32 AM

For me, the most important thing is that both of us enjoy good songs like the ones you mentioned as your favoutite entries, Dima_gresc. I am sure that Kalomira is a nice person, but I am not voting with that purpose in mind. I am longing to see Greece well represented once again.

dima_gresc

Date: 05/6/2009 01:26 AM

Luso my favorite entries were France,Estonia Norway and Iceland.Israel was nice too. That being said,i think that both Greece and Turkey were better than Germany and Andorra that you found good...Greece 2008 was fun and Kalomira may not be the best singer but she was nice and people loved her and her catchy song...

Luso

Date: 04/6/2009 08:33 PM

Dima_Gresc, I don't have a musical background, but I didn't like the Greek and Turkish entries either (especially Greece's as I said earlier). The UK jury didn't vote for This is Our Night, but I do not agree with Turkey being given higher points than France, Armenia and Bosnia, songs that required good vocal skills and that had singers who were up to the job, unlike Turkey's. That being said, I also would like to say that Greece has been sending feeble songs for the last two years (08 and 09). This is not a dance contest, it is a song contest. I am OK with elaborate choreographies on stage, as long as people really sing - Kalomira and Rouvas are not singers, for me, although I agree that they are very professional at what they do.

dima_gresc

Date: 04/6/2009 07:54 PM

i meant Greece and Turkey...

dima_gresc

Date: 04/6/2009 07:10 PM

actually gb6 Greece last year had 218 pts so it's highly possible that the uk televoters as well as greeks living in the UK voted for it... Claudio i'm glad you are so modest claiming to have real musical understanding. However the fact remains that both Greece and Cyprus were in the top-10 of the jury too...that should tell you something...

Claudio

Date: 03/6/2009 11:17 PM

Diaspora voting has these things...it's the only way to explain how Greece and Turkey did so well...a person with real musical understanding would not give them a single point.

Die_4_u

Germany took 7 points overall without even getting one point from the public...is this fair?? without taking not even ONE SINGLE POINT from the public??

MY GOD!! THE PROFESSIONAL JURY GAVE 5 POINTS TO UKRAINE AND ZERO POINTS TO GREECE?? Is this a professional jury??and 12 points to Germany?? Professional juries like this one are dangerous !!!

WillT

well i think the big Turkish and Greek communities tend to vote more than once for their country of origin whilst the average UK viewer votes once for their favourite. I voted for Greece in 2008, it was great, but Turkey and Greece barely deserved to be in the final in 2009 sorry!

gb_6

Date: 02/6/2009 12:07 AM

Juan -- it's more than just that, the general British population probably doesn't care enough to vote. So only the immigrant groups from places where Eurovision is popular will call to vote.

Juan

Date: 01/6/2009 11:57 PM

Greeks and Turkish... with big communities in the UK. that's why the televote is like that

gb_6

Date: 01/6/2009 11:55 PM

Is anyone in the UK, other than the immigrant groups, picking up the phone to vote? For the past 3 years now, Greece and Turkey have gotten the top marks from the UK televote. It's just too coincidental.

Luso

Thanks BBC for the complete results. The results differ from jury to televote, which isn't surprising. I think the first 4 of the jury vote are understandable (Germany's song was good in spite of the ghastly stage presentation). But placing Ukraine higher than France and Bosnia is beyond belief. The televote went for Turkey and Greece, two below than average entries (especially Greece's, very poor indeed); I guess the British audience likes to dum tek tek... However, the 8 points to Lithuania reassured me that good taste exists too. Thanks for the lonely point guys.
