‘Festival da Canção’, the national selection to the Eurovision Song Contest, is back in 2010. The news from Portugal is confirmed first in oikotimes.com once again. This is one of the longest-running Eurovision selection methods.
RTP will make official announcements at the end of this year. The formula of 2009 will be used again, but with some changes, which are being studied. In 2009, RTP hold an open call to songs, dropping the format of inviting producers used during the previous three years – 2006, 2007 and 2008. After the first jury selection of 24 songs, the Eurovision fans from all over the world had the chance to select the 12 final songs. The finalists compete in a national final – “Festival da Canção” – scheduled to February. In the final, a mix of jury and televoting system (50/50) selected Flor-de-Lis and “Todas as ruas do amor” to compete in Moscow.
It’s almost sure that the online selection will return, as well as the jury per-districts at the final.
