The European Broadcasting Union has no official confirmation from TVE about their withdrawal from the 2007 Junior Eurovision Song Contest edition. The statement comes directly from the European Broadcasting Union. Few weeks ago the Spanish newspaper El Pais reported that TVE told them that the format is not compatible to the TVE image.
On the one hand TV3 recently abolished the live programs of bullfights under the same reasoning. On the other hand EBU will suffer from a major country in TV rates. EBU says they will contact TVE. Possible solutions if TVE's withdrawal will be confirmed officially is either to ask an 18th country to join or to have a show with 17 countries.
