Mark Evans, who made the final of BBC TV’s Eurovision 2009 national selection “Your Country Needs You”, will participate in a nude charity calendar. “To help children in hospices is such a good cause”, justifies the young singer. The calendar will also promote a summer festival – “The Gwyl Festival of Hope”.

The calendar will also feature the members of Only Men Aloud, a male voice choir, entertainer Shan Cothi and pianist Annette Bryn Parri. Other nude models will be celebrity chef Dai Davies, David Kempster, Robert Arwyn, London International Orchestra conductor Toby Purcer, and comedian Tudur Owen.

The idea for a calendar was born after a conversation among festival committee members. The details about how people can buy their copy and how much it will cost, have yet to be announced.

The funny thing about Mark is that he does have a superb voice, and his very clear diction and musical theatre accent when singing is actually really beautiful and suits the alternative musical arrangement of My Time very well. That's just my analysis of it as a song. However when it comes to success in Eurovision, Jade always was going to sell the song to the audience better and has much more appeal with an amazing singing voice too, and success in Eurovision had to take priority. If we were totally up front about our entry this year and said we were going to have Andrew Lloyd Webber compose our Eurovision entry as a musical theatre kind of song (I consider it to be a seperate genre from pop) then Mark should have gone to Moscow, but while the song was musical theatre, Jade gave it the more commercial edge it needed to succeed in Moscow. It's a bit of a double-edged sword but I think we made the right choice in the end. Here's hoping our entry next year will really start to reflect the finest in British music, be it rock, pop, R&B or musical theatre!!
