Songwriters are being given the chance to pen an entry for the Eurovision Song Contest as part of a documentary being made for Five. The documentary follows Justin Lee Collins’ attempts to persuade a country to let him sing for them in the contest, and is calling on songwriters to pen an entry that could be performed if he is selected.
Only some countries allow foreigners to enter for them, and the documentary will follow Collins’ efforts in Spain, Ireland, Romania, Latvia and Estonia. Ronan Keating has already vowed to write the song for Collins if he is chosen to represent Ireland, however Collins will choose his favourite entry from all those who submit songs if he is chosen to represent one of the other countries.
Eurovision Song for Justin, which is being made by Tiger Aspect, will include interviews with previous performers, the British winners and losers and explore the history of the competition. Songs submitted must be in English, and must not have had a public performance.
