ESCMALTA.COM REPORTSLast day of the first phase for Malta Eurosong 2010 kicked-off early this afternoon. The remaining 33 songs are being performed and the semi-finalists are expected to be announced later on this evening. The third and last day of the first phase for next year’s Maltese national selection started early afternoon at about 13:00CET. 33 songs are expected to be heard infront of the jury composed of both local and foreigners.
Yesterday ESCMALTA.com revealed that three members of the jury are foreigners. The panel is composed of seven persons. Currently ESCMALTA.com is at the Corinthia Hotel and Spa, H’Attard reporting the latest developments from the third day which also includes the announcement of the qualifiers to the second phase. Ex-Eurovision representatives, newcomers and well established artists were spotted outside the hall were the pre-selection is taking place.
Composers and authors are accompanying the singers while representatives from the Union of Maltese composers and authors (U.K.A.M.) are present to monitor the process along with PBS officials. Meanwhile as done in the past two days the artists sing a couple of notes from the song for a sound check while afterwards the participants sing the whole song once. Up to 36 entries will qualify to the second phase that will go on TV as from next Wednesday. The semi-finalists will be revealed later on this evening.
