As you already know, the first song to compete in the next Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo is just been known. It is the Dutch song, and will be performed by six artists on February 7th, so that the public decides who will be the best to represent the Netherlands in the next contest. The method is similar to the one used last year by the United Kingdom where Andrew Lloid Webber wrote several different songs, and one of them was chosen, and then, on a public show, the best performer was picked to enter the contest in Moscow last may.
The song is called ‘Ik ben verliefd’(I’m in Love Shalalie), composed by Pierre Kartner, who sais wrote the song in a few hours a few days ago.
The song , at first is quite naive, and rather simple, but as you hear a few more times, it grows on you, or at least that’s the feeling I get. It’s surprising how, that is something very typical with the songs from the ESC. At first they look like you’ve heard them already, but in the end, you kind of like them so much that you can’t help listening to them all day!
The song is also typical from the festival in its history since it has a very repeated chorus, the sounds are very similar, and gone through all through the song and again.
We wish the best to the Netherlands in the next contest in Oslo, because they haven’t been well treated in the last few years. Will it be their definite year to be at the to? The song seems a bit poor to get so, but, maybe, with a good performer and a few arrangements, they will be the trigger to push it up to the first places once again. Good luck, The Netherlands!
