The Latvians make the choice on February 27 for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010. A national final will be held again, according to the rules published this morning by LTV. Only Latvian songwriters and performers can submit songs to the broadcaster; the deadline has been set on January 15. “Eirodziesma” takes place on February 27, live from Ventspils, with no semifinals like in 2008 and 2009. 10 acts selected from the call of songs will fight to represent Latvia in Oslo. The decision will be taken by both televoting and jury.
Latvia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest ten times, debuting at the 2000 contest, where Brainstorm came 3rd with the song "My Star". The country's first, and so far, only victory came in 2002 when Marie N and her song "I Wanna" beat favorite’s Malta by 12 points, receiving 176 points.
