It has been revealed by Belgian Eurovision news website Eurosong.be that the songwriter for the Dutch 2010 ESC entry, Pierre Kartner, had previously submitted a song for consideration by the then Dutch Eurovision broadcaster NOS.
In an interview in July 2005, Kartner, who wrote the theme song to the popular childrens' television programme The Smurfs, stated that the song had been rejected by NOS. According to Eurosong.be, the intention was that Glennis Grace (who was eventually chosen to represent the Netherlands with 'My Impossible Dream') would sing the song.
Grace was known to have declined to sing the song, saying at the time, "It was so bad that I have rejected [the offer]". The entry was reportedly "...something in the style of 'Ein Bisschen Frieden'" (Germany's winning entry in 1982).
Glennis Grace went on to achieve 14th place in the semi-final of the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev, Ukraine.
