José Galisteo, the former Operación Triunfo singer, has released the final version of his song 'Beautiful Life', with which he hopes to represent Spain in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo, Norway, in May.
According to Eurovision-Spain.com, his management have informed the Spanish broadcaster TVE of his intention to participate for Spain in the Contest. The song 'Beautiful Life' is featured on the singer's second album 'Luces y Sombras' ('Lights and Shadows'), and has recently been adapted so that it complies with the EBU three-minute time restriction for entries in the Eurovision Song Contest.
In an interview with Eurovision-Spain.com in December, he described that to participate in Oslo would be "very exciting", and his motivation for competing was "...for Europe to [realise] that Spain is more than just Spanish guitars and castanets".
'Beautiful Life' was written by Jesús María Pérez (who composed 'Dime' ['Tell Me'] with Amaya Martínez, the Spanish entry in 2003 by Beth) and Tony Sanchez-Ohlsson (who co-wrote 'I Love You Mi Vida' by D'NASH, which represented the country in 2007).
Galisteo previously expressed an interest in competing in the Eurovision Song Contest in January 2008, as revealed on Oikotimes. He placed sixth in the fifth series of Operación Triunfo in 2006, and released his first album 'Remember' in 2007. 'Luces y Sombras' was released in October 2009.
