According to reports surfacing on the Internet, French singer Christophe Willem may be in the running to represent the country in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in May. The news has not been confirmed by the broadcaster France 3, however the French website eurovision-info.net reports that several concerts scheduled in April and May have been postponed on the grounds of 'promotional requirements'.
The 26-year-old singer won the fourth edition of Nouvelle Star (the French version of Pop Idol/American Idol) in 2006. If selected, he will become the second star to go on to appear in the Eurovision Song Contest, following the series' first winner Jonatan Cerrada in 2004 with 'Á chaque pas' ('With every step').
Willem's last album, 'Caféine' ('Caffeine'), reached #1 in France upon it's release in the country in 2009. Last year, renowed international singer Patricia Kaas achieved 8th place for France in Moscow with 'Et s'il fallait le faire' ('And if it had to be done').
